RANDOM THOUGHTS FROM A #MOMBOSS - Amanda Worthington

I work full time as a Nanny, I’m a mom of two toddlers, and I just started blogging. Am I crazy? The answer is yes, but since my job is to look after little ones I often bring my kids to work with me, and while it’s not easy, getting more time with my kids can be a great benefit of the job.

I absolutely love going to the movies. I was in desperate need of a night out over the weekend, so I went with a friend to see The Greatest Showman, and wow! What a fantastic movie! Go see it right now, you won’t regret it. Don’t forget your Kleenex!

I’m originally from Ontario and though we’ve been living just outside of Edmonton for over 4 years now, I’m still getting to know the city and constantly finding new restaurants and shops to try. When we get the rare date night I love cruising through Instagram to find a fun new restaurant to try. If it’s instaworthy, I’m there.

Coffee is in my veins, and dry shampoo is life. My day starts at 5:30 a.m. on weekdays and if it weren’t for the espresso shot I have first thing in the morning I would never make it past breakfast.

I live for my kids nap time. Now my son is 4 and that kid napped until he was probably a little over 3. My daughter is almost 2 and still naps once a day and since she is the high energy, sassy, crazy one, I live for her nap time. It’s that break in the day where I can take a moment and finally eat something, do some writing and cruise through social media (or Netflix).

Raise your hand if your kids are picky eaters! Kraft dinner is a life saver. So many nights I come home from work with no motivation to make a well-balanced dinner for my kids. Who’s got time for that every day?! Not me. 7 minutes and my kids are fed and happy. It’s one of the only foods I can rely on my kids to eat without complaint, and now they have a whole grain version and a veggie version! Woo! You know what I say to my kids when they try to challenge me? I ask them “Who’s the boss” and my four-year- old son Calin now answers quickly “you”. Inside I giggle and outside I give him a look of confidence and tell him that he’s right, mom’s the boss. (It feels so good)

My bedroom is my sanctuary. It’s where I go to unwind and relax after the kid’s have gone to bed. It’s where I feel most comfortable, and where I write. My bedroom is the one room I can manage to keep clean (no kid’s toys), and when I find cute home décor pieces I always end up adding them to my bedroom. It’s my cozy space where I can recharge, and I think everyone needs a place to do the same.
